Wire Tuazon (b.1973) is a visual artist whose practice combines the hyperrealist, semiotic and the performative. His current works are shifted to spontaneous abstraction after he had his previous strokes.
He studied Fine Arts major in Studio Arts from the University of the Philippines in Diliman from 1991-1998. He became a founding member of the art collective Surrounded by Water, an independent artist-run space that started at Angono in 1998. In 2001, Tuazon received a residency grant at the Ashiya City Museum of Art and History from the Japan Foundation Asia Center. In 2003, Tuazon was chosen as one of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artist Awardees. He was also the founder and currently the adviser of the Neo-Angono Artists Collective where he organizes public art festivals since 2004. He have done numerous solo and group exhibitions as well across the Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan & Korea. He is currently the president of the Giant Dwarf Art Space that started in 2018.
